Time Bank
Project entry for UNI Breaking Work In 2040 | Competition Winner | 2019
Due to the advent of technology, we believe that several jobs will be lost / relieve people of many tasks hence leaving people with more time on their hands. Hence, we ask - 'Can technology itself be used to combat the adverse effects of technology?' The competition imagined a futuristic building which has the power to maximise the true potential of every human. This building becomes the confluence of all the people who have 'time' - the TIME BANK.
They first enter at the 'interface' level called the Time Bank Central - a place where they select whether they wish to start a Time Bank Company, Join a Time Bank Company or just learn something new.

A unique system is proposed by re-arranging the 'departments' into 'cross-over' zones - where all companies get fragmented and the departments of all Time Bank companies work together. The building permits Time Based Choices, Time Based Tasks and Time Based Hierarchies. Via pods and docks, the building ensures that the company members are provided with the right type of space, zone and access at the same time ensuring efficient mobility due to the fragmented company policy. The building remembers that technology must not take over humans hence provides for no-data social zones, learning zones and provides efficient ergonomically designed PODS which can also become a 'gym on the go'. Basically, its a cool new way of working!
