Sequestered Camden
Exploring Inner Peripheries of London | 2018
The inner peripheries of London are somewhat sequestered within railway lines and canals. These large territories require a coherent vision, a diverse urban mix, based on a comprehensive understanding of the sequestered fragments.
Many such territories are underway regeneration, creating vibrant working and living environments to former inaccessible sites.
The Camden Goods Yard is a large sequestered territory with a suburban supermarket with a large parking lot and old council estates. The stable markets have been a successful, yet divided due to terrain to the rest of the area.

Hence, the changing patterns of growth and the emerging trends shape the real life of cities. Within a poly-centric city like London, amplification of innovation environments and evolving food culture are seen as a part of the buzz of the city. The proposed masterplan involves a framework, investigating cultural and convenience-based institutions as a driver for establishing a new makers economy shared with living environments.
I was involved in the research of such sequestered territories and the impact of development, as well as mapping the Camden Goods Yard. The study involved a 3d printed model, a series of hand- drawn sketches to illustrate the physical conditions of the site and a masterplan proposal. Thus, showcasing the potential opportunities of developing the site coherently with a rich mix of uses and creating vibrant liveable environments in former underused lands.
